WorldCat is a way for students and faculty to search for materials that can then be requested through Interlibrary loan. Use WorldCat to find the resource you are looking for then fill out the proper ILL request form to request the material.
Inter Library Loan or ILL is a service that allows the Watson-Griffith to borrow materials from other partner libraries upon the request of students or faculty. Individuals requesting material need to fill out an ILL periodical/book request form and email the form to Mr. Wooten. Forms can be found in the library at the circulation desk or on the links attached below.
MACU LIBRARY INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICES
Interlibrary Loan [ILL] is a reference service providing materials which are NOT available in the Elizabeth City area. Materials necessary for research and study are borrowed from other libraries for use by our patrons. Materials are obtained from libraries in the SOLINET network, which includes North Carolina, most libraries in the southern states, and from about 60 libraries in the Christian Library Network. There is no charge for this service.
CONDITIONS OF LOAN SERVICES
All ILL requests must be submitted in writing on forms supplied by the library. Forms are available to the left of the circulation desk. To help speed the request, please read the forms carefully and supply all required information. The Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) should be checked first to make certain the material is not available in the Watson-Griffith Library. Journal titles should also be checked to ascertain whether they are available locally.

ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT INTERLIBRARY LOAN
How long does it take? Requests are transmitted electronically approximately one or two working days after the initial request is submitted. Materials available in the SOLINET area usually arrive within one week. Materials which must be obtained elsewhere will take longer.
What if I can't wait that long? Check with area libraries to see if the material is available. Use other resources available locally.
Is there a limit on the number of requests? Students may request up to five [5] items for a class. A Librarian can help you locate appropriate information. Copyright law also places a number of restrictions on photocopies of periodical articles. For example, you may not request more than one article from a single issue of a periodical or more than two articles from a particular periodical title within the last five years.
How will I know the materials have arrived? Photocopies of articles will be sent directly to your MACU email. When a book arrives, you will receive a notice indicating that it is in the library and that you must come to the library (Mr. Wooten’s office) to pick it up.
How long can I keep a book on interlibrary loan? The lending library determines the due date, which will range from two to four weeks after the item is sent to the library. Renewals are not allowed. All books obtained through interlibrary loan must be returned to the library (Mr. Wooten’s office) by the due date specified.
Is there a fine for overdue books? The fine for overdue interlibrary loan books is $5.00 per item per day.
