Joseph's Bloody Coat Brought to Jacob by Diego Velázquez, 1630

Joseph was a figure in the Hebrew bible, he was the favored son of Jacob and was sold into slavery by his brothers because of their jealousy. Sold as a slave he eventually rose to a powerful position in Egypt where he used his ability to interpret dreams to save the nation from a devastating famine. He eventually reconciled with his family despite his brothers betrayal.
